Follow-up of a Patient with Somatostatinoma

To the Editor: In 1979 we presented in the Journal a case report of a clinical syndrome arising from the production of somatostatin by a malignant islet-cell tumor of the pancreas.* At that time, we speculated that the tumor was not infrequent and could easily be misdiagnosed in view of the associated common symptoms and insidious nature of its clinical presentation: diabetes mellitus, cholelithiasis, and mild diarrhea.
