N2 - Immunoglobulins were quantitated by a radial diffusion plate method. The values obtained on 2,600 cord sera, when submitted to statistical analysis, showed the technique to be both simple and satisfactory, provided a number of safeguards are taken to minimize the relatively large coefficient of variation in results obtained when sera with low IgM levels are tested. Elevation of cord IgM values was noted in 18 per cent of 88 infants with rubella tested, and principally in those with the more severe manifestations of the syndrome. Immunoglobulin values in 182 sera collected during the first 6 months of life were elevated in approximately half of the infants with rubella.
