Abstract

The endoscopic discectomy is efficacious and patients typically have shorter hospital stays than traditional open procedures. Proficiency with this endoscopy can allow for novel treatments of pathologies that otherwise involved larger open decompressions and fusions such as with thoracic disks herniation and foraminal stenosis in adult degenerative scoliosis. Endoscopic interbody fusion is an exciting area of endoscopic spine that warrants large prospective trials and long term follow up for fusion rates in order to truly evaluate its utility as compared to standard and minimally invasive transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion techniques.
