Abstract
Gibb's phase rule is discussed for the case of immiscible electrolyte solutions. The ways of choosing the independent system variables which are most convenient for the theory of electrocapillarity are described. A simpler description of this section, which will be suited equally well for polarizable interfaces, is formulated.
