Abstract
The speed of spread of the steady flat front of an excitation wave has been calculated for different types of anisotropic syncytia. The results of the theoretical calculation are compared with the experimental findings obtained in heart tissue of the dog and also with the results of the numerical solution of the Hodgkin-Huxley equation.
