Effects of Exercise Training on Resting Calf Muscle Oxygen Metabolism in Patients with Peripheral Artery Disease

Abstract

Using diffuse optics techniques, we demonstrated that exercise training increases resting calf muscle oxygen metabolism and oxygen extraction fraction in patients with peripheral artery disease. Oxygen extraction fraction increases correlated with improvement in exercise performance.
