Abstract
We evaluated the influence of diabetes on clinical outcomes after acute coronary syndromes using data from the Global Use of Strategies to Open Occluded Coronary Arteries in Acute Coronary Syndromes (GUSTO) IIb study. Patients with diabetes (n = 2,175) had a significantly increased incidence of death or myocardial infarction within 6 months after the index acute coronary syndrome. Our data suggest diabetes is associated with worse clinical outcomes across the entire spectrum of acute coronary syndromes.
