Abstract
Common scabies manifests as pruritus and erythematous to hyperpigmented papules typically affecting the interdigital webspaces, hands, volar wrists, axillae, feet, waistline, lower buttocks, inner thighs, areola in women, and genitalia in men. Although specific, burrows are only occasionally seen in common scabies given the low mite burden. Atypical presentations of scabies include scalp involvement, nodules, and bullae. Recognizing the morphology and distribution of skin lesions is critical to diagnosing scabies, as summarized by the 2020 International Alliance for the Control of Scabies (IACS) consensus criteria.
