Abstract

Amenorrhea is the cessation of menses. It may be physiological in nature, occurring before sexual maturity, during pregnancy, or when the age of menopause is reached. It may also be pathological in nature, which is the main focus of this article. Any patient presenting with amenorrhea should undergo a medical workup to evaluate for the etiology. Treatment is diagnosis-dependent. © 2007
