Abstract
Ultrasound assisted liposuction (UAL) has become an important tool for the body contouring surgeon. Its use has become refined and now facilitates optimizing circumferential liposuction. This paper will discuss aesthetic body contouring in its entirety as it is related to ultrasound assisted liposuction. It will review proper patient selection, preoperative evaluation, intraoperative considerations, and postoperative care. Guidelines for its use will be given. Following completion, the reader should have a better understanding of the current state of ultrasound assisted liposuction and how it will be useful to their practice.
