Abstract

Adenylyl cyclases are enzymes that synthesize the intracellular second messenger, cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP), which in turn triggers a cascade of biochemical changes that regulate a number of important cellular processes. These cAMP-regulated cellular processes play an important role in the control of a number of metabolic processes including the regulation of blood glucose homeostasis, learning and memory, and cell growth.
